Exploring the Start screen

The Windows 8 Start screen is the colorful, fluid place where you’ll find the apps that you use most often. When you display Windows 8 for the first time, you’ll find a collection of colorful app tiles, ready for you to begin working with photos, social media, your calendar, email, and more. You can use the Start screen as it is or add and remove tiles, customizing it to meet your own needs.

Use the Start screen

  1. Start your computer, and then on the lock screen, swipe up with your finger or drag up by using the mouse.

    Windows 8 displays your logon screen.

  2. Click in the text box and type your password.

  3. Click Go.
