Going backstage

Using the tools on an Office 2013 app ribbon, you can work with the content of your file in myriad ways. The only thing you can’t do on it is manipulate the file itself. To do that, you need to click the File tab, which displays the Backstage view. Here, you’ll find all the tools you need to work with files, such as opening an existing file, saving the current file, finding recent files, sharing the file, checking your account information, connecting to social media accounts, and much more.

Use the Backstage view

  1. With your Office 2013 file open on the screen, click the File tab.

  2. Choose what you want to do next with the file.

  3. Review and update file properties.

  4. Check the status of your Microsoft Account, connected services, ...
