Having instant conversations

If you’ve used any kind of instant messaging (IM) program, like Windows Live Messenger or the Messaging app in Windows 8, you’ll feel comfortable using the IM feature in Lync 2013. The process is simple: Just choose a contact, send a message, and reply to the messages you receive.

Send an instant message

  1. In your Contacts list, right-click a contact.

  2. Click Send An IM.

    A conversation window opens.

  3. Type your message text in the conversation window and press the Enter key.

    Your message text appears in your conversation window as well as your contact’s conversation window. Your contact’s typed response will appear below the latest text you sent.
