By default, SharePoint Designer remembers the last site you worked on and opens it when you start the program, but you can alter this setting on the General tab of the Application Options dialog box.
The contents of the SharePoint site are listed in the Folder List task pane and on the Web Site tab in the document window. When you double-click a file in the Folder List task pane, the default editor is used to open the file. The default editor is specified on the Configure Editors tab of the Application Options dialog box.
