Creating a Table Layout

SharePoint Designer provides you with three main methods of manipulating tables: the Table menu, the Table button on the Common toolbar, and the Layout Tables task pane. You can use tables to help you lay out a page or to present data in a tabular format. Most SharePoint pages use tables to lay out a grid to position various elements, such as text, graphics, and controls. In fact, most pages contain many tables; several are nested within other tables, with empty cells to separate areas of the page. To modify the builtin pages that are installed with Windows SharePoint Services or SharePoint Server 2007, you need to be familiar with manipulating tables.
