Modifying a Built-In List View Page

Views are Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 pages that use an LVWP to display all or a subset of the contents of a list or library based on specific criteria defined by the metadata. They allow you to display information in different formats without having to enter the information more than once, thereby enabling you and other users to find information easily. When a list or library is created, instances of view pages that point to files in the TEMPLATE folder on the Web servers. They contain one Web Part zone named Main and one LVWP. In SharePoint Designer, you can see the instances of these pages immediately below the list container, whereas in libraries, you can see them in the Forms folder.
