Using CAML

Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) is a proprietary markup language specific to SharePoint technologies that the LVWP uses to dynamically find and display SharePoint items based on various criteria. Each LVWP on a Web Part starts with a WebPartPages:ListViewWebPart tag, followed by all the Web Part properties tags, and then the CAML statements. CAML, like XSLT, is represented as XML data. Many of the built-in site definitions use CAML, because it is easy to see in XML data format. On a page, CAML appears within the ListViewXml tag with the < and > characters encoded as &gt and &lt characters.
