Resetting a Master Page to the Site Definition

In Chapter 4, you reset a content page to its site definition. Resetting a master page to its site definition is not different. You will lose any customizations you made to the page, including any static text, images, controls, or Web Parts you place on the page. SharePoint Designer will create a copy of the page before it resets it back to the site definition, so you can recover your customizations, if needed. On a content page, where you add Web Parts or Data Views to Web Part zones, resetting to the site definition, your Web Parts and Data Views will remain as long as the Web Part zones were defined in the site definition file and had the same Web Part zone label as the customized content page. ...
