Sending and Receiving Messages

Depending on your e-mail account and network configuration, messages you send could go out instantaneously or be kept in your Outbox until you choose to send them. If you are connected to the Internet, your messages will usually go out instantaneously. If you are not connected to the Internet (for example, if you use a dial-up connection), your messages will typically be kept in your Outbox until you connect.

How you receive messages also depends on your type of e-mail account and your Outlook configuration. Outlook might check for new messages periodically and download them automatically. Or, you might need to manually check for new messages.
