A drop cap, sometimes called a fancy first letter, adds style and interest to a document and attracts the reader’s eye to the page. Drop caps are typically used at the beginning of chapters or sections, as in this book.
Click at the right of the first letter of your paragraph.
On the Insert tab, click the Drop Cap button, and point to the different choices to see the effect. Click the type of drop cap you want.
