Creating a Custom Table of Tables or Figures

If you’ve created a long scientific or technical document or report, you’ll probably want to create one or more tables listing any tables and/or figures contained in the document. If you’ve included these types of items without using Word’s captioning feature, you can still have Word create the tables for you. Word will also update the page numbers in the tables if the pagination of the document changes. Because the table is built on a style you identify, you can use this method to create a table for any types of items, whether they’re equations, graphs, quotes, or notes.
