• Assign work, material, and cost resources to tasks.
• Review assignments in different views including the Gantt Chart, Team Planner, Task Usage view, and Task Board.
• Explain how Project calculates costs for tasks with work, material, and cost resources assigned to them.
• View costs for tasks with assigned resources in a task sheet and an agile planning board.
• Replace one resource assigned to a task with a different resource.
• Add and remove work resources assigned to a task and choose how this change should affect the assignment.
• Change the duration on a task with work resources assigned and choose how this change should affect the assignments.

In Lesson 6, “Set Up Resources,” you added resource information to your Microsoft Project plan. Your resources probably include people—your team members who will carry out the project tasks. You might have also added information about equipment resources, material resources, and cost resources—the other items that help accomplish your project goals.

In this lesson, you'll assign people, equipment, materials, and cost resources to tasks and see the impact this has on your project plan.

After you assign resources to tasks, you can use different views to look at your assignments from various angles, which enables you to see if any resources are overbooked or underutilized throughout the project.
