Microsoft states that enabling performance counters for physical and logical
disks is usually associated with a 10 percent performance impact. This
impact can be on the response time, on the overall throughput of transac-
tions to the volume or disk, and possibly on the quantity of data transmit-
ted back and forth between the volumes and disks to the NT I/O
subsystem. Should this be really an issue? Personally, I don’t think so. If you
tune your environment such that you take into consideration the impact of
