largely depends upon the client protocol. With POP and IMAP users, you
do not have the concept of being connected yet idle: you establish connec-
tion to the server, you synchronize your email, and that’s it. The activity fac-
tor is primarily used in MAPI clients (e.g., Outlook) environments, where
it is common to open the client in the morning and close it at the end of
the working day, maintaining a connection between the client and the
server but not necessarily using it.
