2. SAS: Serial Attached SCSI, positioned for high-performance
disks, with relatively smaller capacity
In the future, both of these interfaces will be predominant on the server
market, and address some of the problems initially found with parallel
SCSI, such as limitations in the number of devices attached to the bus,
arbitration of access to the disks and cable length restrictions. In SAS enclo-
sures, you are now able to plug both SATA and SAS drives. This helps you
in building storage solutions that have high-performance for part and high-
capacity at reduced cost for another part.
