Basic Principle
The notion of data replication as implemented in host-based or storage-
based solution is relatively straightforward:
Two (or more) copies of a volume/logical unit contents are generated
across two different infrastructures connected by a replication link
(often referred to as an “Inter-Switch Link, ISL”)
One copy is known as the source or local copy (essentially local to the
production application server to which the clients or peer servers con-
nect to)
Another copy is known as the target or remote copy ...
