MOST OF THE DAY-TO-DAY configuration and maintenance of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Server 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010 is handled via the Central Administration pages. Only a few actions require administrators to access command-line tools. The most common use of a SharePoint command-line tool is to script repeatable actions against SharePoint—for example, batch creation of users or sites.
