Typically, a record in a fact table is related to only one record in a dimension table, but a dimension record may be related to many fact table records. For example, each order line is for a single product, but that product may have many order lines. The product dimension and the sales measures have a one-to-many relationship. When a dimension and a measure a have one-to-many relationship, the total value of the measure is equal to the sum of the values of the measure of each of the individual dimension members.
