Securing Administrative Access

Within Analysis Services, administrative rights are assigned at two levels. The broadest administrative rights are granted through the built-in server role. More limited rights are assigned through custom database roles. In the sections that follow, you will explore the use of these roles to assign appropriate administrative access within Analysis Services.

Assigning Server-Level Administrative Access

Analysis Services comes preconfigured with a single, server-level role. This role, referred to as the server role, is the only server-level role permitted within Analysis Services, and it cannot be dropped or modified beyond changes to its membership.
