Windows Phone 7 is a dramatic shift in focus for Microsoft, for both enterprise users and consumers. Windows Mobile 6.5 was rewritten with the consumer in mind to create Windows Phone 7. Microsoft has greatly simplified the user interface and made it so that all Windows Phone 7 devices have the same look and feel. They have also centralized application management into a Marketplace with tight control over the applications that are available to install on the phone. This makes the phone a much more stable platform, but eliminates a convenient management path for enterprises to install their own custom applications.
