Dialog Framework

The dialog framework is another feature introduced in SharePoint 2010. Dialogs, like the ribbon, help to keep the user in context. Page transitions are also reduced by the introduction of dialogs. For instance, choosing to click the Add New Item link in a SharePoint list page launches a dialog so a user can complete all required metadata and information but remain on the same page, as shown in Figure 3.16. By default, saving or closing the dialog also returns the user to the same page.
