Anatomy of the Ribbon

When referring to ribbon functionality, we refer to ribbon groups, tabs, and commands. Figure 3.3 shows the key ribbon naming conventions, which are also used when referring to ribbon functionality throughout this book. Specifically

• Tabs are organized by functional task.

• Contextual tabs appear when needed.

• Groups organize controls (or commands) similar in function.

• Controls perform actions.
