Working with the Ratings Control

A (content) rating in SharePoint Server 2010 is an average of all ratings submitted by users. The ratings store contains values between 0 and 100. The user sees values of 1 to 5.

The following items may be rated:

List items, including documents: Each list (and library) in SharePoint Server 2010 includes an enable ratings setting. This setting is enabled or disabled via the Web interface.

Publishing pages: Page layouts in SharePoint Server 2010 include a ratings field control, by default the Enterprise Wiki page layout.

Other pages: When we create new ASPX pages in SharePoint Designer, we can include the rating control on those pages. See Chapter 13 for details.

We show you how to add the ratings control ...
