A (content) rating in SharePoint Server 2010 is an average of all ratings submitted by users. The ratings store contains values between 0 and 100. The user sees values of 1 to 5.
The following items may be rated:
• List items, including documents: Each list (and library) in SharePoint Server 2010 includes an enable ratings setting. This setting is enabled or disabled via the Web interface.
• Publishing pages: Page layouts in SharePoint Server 2010 include a ratings field control, by default the Enterprise Wiki page layout.
• Other pages: When we create new ASPX pages in SharePoint Designer, we can include the rating control on those pages. See Chapter 13 for details.
