Where Are Web Parts Stored

In Chapter 4, “Design Administrative Tasks: Site Settings, Permissions, and Creating Sites,” you learn about the site settings associated with SharePoint sites, specifically SharePoint galleries. Each site collection includes a Web Part Gallery, shown in Figure 6.1, accessed via the root site of a site collection. The Web Part Gallery is created when a site collection is provisioned and includes all the default functional SharePoint Web parts, such as the CQWP and Media Web Part.
