Which Content Page Type: HTML, ASPX or Web Part Page?

Before delving into further discussion about creating each content page type, let’s consider why you would create one page type over another page type in SharePoint Designer. There are definite scenarios for creating a particular page type in SharePoint sites. For instance, you might choose to create a new Web part page from an existing Web part page template as opposed to creating a new blank ASPX page and building the entire layout of the page from ground-up.
