Tables versus CSS/DIV Layout
The age-old debate around whether to use tables or DIVs (CSS) to lay out content pages continues in web developer and web designer communities. Many choose to use tables because they have been around longer than DIVs, which means more people are used to working with tables. Tables are relatively easy to implement and are cross-browser friendly. If you were responsible for designing a website when Internet Explorer 6 predominated then attempting to implement a wholly CSS-centric layout solution was no trivial matter.
