Controlling Visibility of Content

Sometimes, for the sake of aesthetics or security, you want to hide certain master page content, such as the Site Actions button, or part of the Site Actions drop-down menu selection. Using the <SharePoint:SPSecurityTimmedControl> you can easily hide objects on master pages. Later in this chapter, you also learn how to use the control to manage ribbon visibility in anonymous SharePoint sites. This section primarily focuses on hiding content in authenticated (internal) SharePoint sites, and it shows you how to use the control along with other methods to hide content on master pages.
