Available Data Sources

By default, any existing lists or document libraries are automatically viewed as data sources, which you may access and manipulate, such as creating different views, filtering, and sorting. When we refer to data sources, we refer to both internal and external data sources.

Note

Those lists and document libraries that have been hidden from the browser, using the Hide from Browser setting on the list or library settings page in SharePoint Designer, are not visible in the list of available site data sources.

Table 19.1 shows the options available to connect to internal and create new, external data connections via the Data Source tab in the left-hand navigation pane.
