List View Page Model
XLVs alone do not complete the overall SharePoint page model. As you work with XLVs you realize that, without a master page, some of the functionality in XLVs does not work, such as functionality dependent on ribbon interaction and functions that make JavaScript calls and depend on JavaScript references included in SharePoint master pages.
Figure 22.13 demonstrates a basic SharePoint page model, which includes master page and CSS (including navigational and other common site resources), content page (optionally page layout in SharePoint Server 2010), and XLV.
