Before you install SQL Server 2012 on your server, it’s a good idea (even if you own the latest-and-greatest system) to review the hardware and software requirements. The next two sections gather all the fine print into a few conveniently organized tables.
The SQL Server 2012 installer helps determine whether your system meets the minimum requirements by running the System Configuration Checker (SCC) early in the install. SCC conveniently provides a savable (via a button click) report on its results (and displays them onscreen). SCC is covered in detail later in this chapter.
