Identifying Products and Features to be Upgraded

Before you start the process of upgrading to SQL Server 2012, it is a good idea to identify what SQL Server products and features you already have installed on the system you are planning on upgrading. This way you will know for sure what may be affected by the upgrade.

To easily identify the SQL Server products and features installed on your systems, you can run the “Installed SQL Server features discovery report,” which is on the Tools page of the SQL Server Installation Center (see Figure 9.1).
