Resolving Contextual Conflicts

The process of resolving cells associated with calculated members as described in the last exercise creates two critical opportunities for problems. These are problems with infinite recursion and solve order.

Avoiding Infinite Recursion

In the previous exercise, you created a calculated member Bikes & Accessories, which was assigned to the Product dimension’s Category attribute-hierarchy. Partial tuples in this calculated member’s expression contain references to the Category attribute-hierarchy so that when these partial tuples are completed using context, the calculated member in the context is displaced.
