Using the DTS Designer

The DTS Designer is a graphical workspace for building sophisticated import, export, or transformation operations. Whereas the DTS Wizard is designed to handle most of your simple import or export needs, the DTS Designer picks up where the wizard leaves off by allowing you to define all your own tasks and set precedence constraints on the steps between these tasks.

You arrange source and destination data sources, along with other execution objects, in a fashion similar to a typical flowchart. Arrows connect these objects and form the tasks and steps of the package. These arrows provide the package with directional flow or conditional logic.
