Basic Duties of a DBA
A SQL Server DBA must wear many hats to provide a full level of service. The requirements for the DBA will vary from company to company depending upon the typical business needs or budget. The DBA might be required to perform all tasks from installation and configuration to performance tuning and guiding purchases. Conversely, the DBA might have responsibility for a single particular task such as managing backups and restores, performance optimization, or ETL tasks.
