Distribution Point
The Distribution Point site role hosts content for clients in a specific location. Content includes software, updates, and images used for OS deployment. Strategically placed Distribution Points are important for effectively deploying content. Distribution Points can be deployed on servers and on clients, with the exact same functionality.

As a safety measure, when content is downloaded from a DP, a hash value is calculated. The hash is compared with the hash on the Site Server. If the hash doesn’t match, the content is discarded.
