Protecting Hyper-V Virtual Machines
The steps used to protect Hyper-V virtual machines using DPM are almost identical regardless of whether you are trying to only protect virtual machines on a standalone Hyper-V host or virtual machines located on a high-availability deployment using CSV or a failover cluster. For the purposes of this example, the following steps describe how to protect virtual machines located on a standalone Hyper-V host:
1. While logged on to the DPM server as a domain user account that is a member of the local administrators group, open the DPM 2012 Administrator Console.
2. Next, ensure that the Hyper-V host has the protection agent installed and the agent is reachable with a normal status.
