Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2
The next major version, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, was released in August of 2009. This release contained a number of improvements over the VMM 2008 release. For example, Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V host support allowed VMM Administrators using VMM 2008 R2 to take advantage of the significant feature improvements made to Hyper-V, such as the following:
• Live migration between Windows Server 2008 R2 clustered hosts. By using live migration, administrators were able to migrate a virtual machine between nodes in a Windows Server 2008 R2 failover cluster without any downtime.
