Building a monitoring Runbook

A monitoring Runbook is different from the Ad-Hoc Runbook we built before. The major difference is a monitoring Runbook is always running and is triggering the activities when a special condition occurs.

In this example, we will build a monitoring Runbook to monitor a service state and write an event log when the service stops:

  1. Open your Runbook Designer and navigate to your Root\0.1-Cookbook\ 1.1-Chapter3 folder that we have created before; and right-click on the New… and Folder:
  1. Create a new Folder called 1.1.4-Monitor Service.
  2. Right-click on the newly created folder, then click on New… and Runbook:
