LINQ to Entities: the First Practical Example

Now you’re ready to explore LINQ to Entities by using a practical example, which will help you become familiar with its individual elements.

Note

Remember that you must have access to a SQL Server instance with AdventureWorks installed to perform these examples.

  1. Create a new Visual Basic Console Application project.

  2. Use Solution Explorer to add a new element to the solution (you get to this dialog by right-clicking the project name) and select the ADO.NET Entity Data Model template for the new element, as shown in Figure 27-13.

  3. Give the new data model the name AdventureWorks.edmx.
