Updating a Data Model from a Database

Updating the ADO.NET Entity Data Model from a database works well in Visual Studio 2010 (that can’t be said about its predecessors). Microsoft has made some improvements that make .NET Framework 4.0 much more comfortable to work with.

To start an update, display the Designer context menu, and select Update Model from Database. Figure 27-27 shows the dialog box that opens and its three tabs: Add, Update, and Delete.

During a data model update, you can add new tables, views, or stored procedures. Using the Update Wizard, you can see which objects have been updated and which were deleted when they no longer exist in the database
