Application Compatibility Toolkit
The principal set of tools available to deal with application compatibility issues is the Application Compatibility Toolkit. This toolkit (currently at version 3.0) contains documentation, usage guides, and several tools that support the deployment of third-party applications in Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003. An earlier version of the Application Compatibility Toolkit shipped on the Windows XP Professional product CD, but the latest version has greatly improved tools as well as new functionality, so you should use this newer version.
