Configuring Wireless Routers

Most wireless routers have web-based administration pages. You can connect to the page using a web browser such as Internet Explorer with the IP address of the router. For example, many wireless routers use an IP address of 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.2.1. You can type http://192.168.0.1, http://192.168.1.1, or http://192.168.2.1 into the address bar to connect to the web administration page.

You’re then prompted to log on using an administrator account. Most wireless routers have a default administrator account named admin. Additionally, wireless routers start with a default password. Table 8-2 shows some of the default IP addresses and passwords used by different vendors.
