Internet Explorer (IE) version 8 is installed by default on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2; this chapter focuses on IE version 8.
Windows Server 2008 (not R2) includes IE version 7 by default. However, it can be upgraded to version 8 or version 9.
On the surface, IE is a web browser that lets you surf the Internet. However, if you dig just a little bit, you’ll see that there is a lot you can manipulate and configure. Figure 12-1 shows IE opened to Bing with some items highlighted. These highlighted items are explained next:
