The Overhauled Start Menu

Now that you have learned how to change the style and color of your Desktop, it's time to get on to some additional features that make using Windows XP easier to use. You already learned that Windows XP can help keep your Desktop clean by hiding unused program icons that you rarely use. Now let's learn about the Start button.

High-Five: The Last Five Programs You Have Used

In the previous versions of Windows, the Start button would bring up a lot of items, and you had to navigate through all of them to find the particular program you wanted to use. The new Start button brings up a much different looking menu, as shown in Figure 7.12.
