Joining a Domain
To join a domain, your computer must have a computer account set up on the domain controller. You can do this before, during, or after you install Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 on your computer:
Before you set up Windows, an administrator can create the computer account on the domain controller. In Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003, you use the Active Directory Users And Computers console to add a computer account. With Small Business Server (SBS), a wizard handles these duties so an administrator doesn't have to work directly in Active Directory Users And Computers.
