There are several ways to approach creating a Media Player–type application using Expression Blend as the UI builder. The WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) provides the MediaElement and you can also incorporate the features of the Microsoft Media Player class if so desired, but it is important to note that only the MediaElement supports the use of XAML to set its properties and so on.

It is because of this XAML support that you will be using the MediaElement control in this chapter.
