12.6.2 Working Mechanism
The working of a magnetron requires an understanding of the impact of dif-
ferent elds on an electron. In a magnetron, three types of elds are simul-
taneously present. These include electric, magnetic and RF elds. When an
electron comes out from a cathode, all these elds try to inuence it in their
own way. To understand the combined impact of all these elds, the roles
played by each individual eld are to be considered separately. Some of the
aspects of these effects were discussed in detail in Section 11.3. These effects
are reconsidered below with special reference to magnetron.
