In the case of requirement of more ports, the circulator of Figure 5.18 can
be cascaded. Such cascading is shown in Figure 5.19 wherein four circulators
are cascaded to yield 10 ports.
5.5 Ferrite Phase Shifter
In Figure 5.12, if the ferrite is located along the z-axis of the waveguide at a/2
distance instead of a/4, the resulting conguration will act as a phase shifter.
The location of the magnetic eld is kept as such. The phase shift will attain
maxima near the region of maximum attenuation. Since phase shifts in for-
ward and backward directions are the same, it becomes a reciprocal device.
