Smith Chart
6.1 Introduction
Almost all practical high-frequency circuits are composed of two or more
transmission lines. These lines are interspersed with series and shunt ele-
ments. The problems involving such elements require a large number of
numerical and algebraic manipulations for their solutions. Smith chart is an
effective tool that signicantly reduces these manipulations.
Smith chart is a circular plot containing a large number of interlaced cir-
cles. With its proper use, matching impedances with apparent complicated
