12.3.5.2 Staggered Tuning
In this case, different cavities are tuned to different frequencies. This tuning
is employed for broadband operations. The transmission of TV signal may
be such an example where broadband operation is required. In this tuning,
intermediate cavities are tuned to either side of the central frequency. If the
cavities are tuned to slightly different frequencies, the gain of the amplier
will reduce but the bandwidth will appreciably increase. Since Q of involved
cavities is quite high, the stagger tuning always requires a bandwidth
exceeding 1% of the central frequency.
